This week I led a bipartisan group of Illinois Representatives introducing the Great Lakes Water Protection Act so that we can fulfill our pledge to protect the environment. The Great Lakes Water Protection Act would ban sewage dumping in the Great Lakes so that future generations can continue to enjoy this national treasure.

Among my work on your behalf this week, I brought together community leaders for a summit at Northwestern University. If we want to prepare students for the jobs of tomorrow, we need a 21st century curriculum, which acknowledges that we live in a global economy requiring constant adaptation to new technology.

Today I placed a friendly wager with David Jolly, putting home-state products on the line as over the National Hockey League’s Stanley Cup Final between the Chicago Blackhawks and the Tampa Bay Lighting. I staked Illinois' famous Chicago-style deep dish pizza from Lou Malnati’s against a blackened grouper sandwich from Florida.
