I am committed to increasing access to strong pre-kindergarten, elementary, secondary and post-secondary educations. Congress must provide teachers with the resources they need including access to high-quality professional development programs to strengthen their work in Connecticut's classrooms. 

Many jobs now require college degrees, but unfortunately higher education remains out of reach for far too many students. Connecticut has some of the finest higher education institutions in the world, offering students a variety of options including four-year college degrees and two-year certificate programs. Total student loan debt is now $1 trillion. I am working hard to alleviate this burden of debt from graduates. The cloud of student loan debt prevents too many young people from making investments in their own future or entering careers to serve the public interest. We must keep faith with graduates by expanding repayment options and working to control the cost of higher education
