This morning I had a productive meeting with Organization of American States (OAS) Secretary General Luis Almagro about challenges and opportunities in the Western Hemisphere.
Today, I joined a bipartisan group of elected officials for a briefing on the security and infrastructure deficiencies at San Antonio’s John Wood Federal Courthouse. For years, I have pushed for federal funding to build a safe, structurally sound courthouse.
I took a fun tour of Huppertz Elementary School in San Antonio today and heard about the great work Teach For America teachers are doing there. I’m grateful for all the wonderful teachers in San Antonio, and I also appreciate the festive turkey hat some students I met today made for me.
I just attended a Foreign Affairs Committee hearing on efforts to cut off terrorist financing and strategies to continue isolating access to funds.

Met with Defense Intelligence Agency Director Lieutenant General Vincent R. Stewart this afternoon and had a good conversation about the agency’s work around the world.
Today, before attending a Foreign Affairs Committee hearing on Russia’s escalation in Syria, I met with Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Victoria Nuland to discuss this pressing issue.
Today the Foreign Affairs Committee held a hearing on the Ex-Im Bank, an agency that keeps American products and companies globally competitive. In Texas, Ex-Im assists 880 small businesses, 127 minority-owned businesses, and 58 women-owned businesses. The Bank’s charter expired earlier this year, and we’re already seeing impacts in Texas.
It was wonderful to speak with thousands of service-oriented individuals from across the country at Points of Light’s National Conference on Volunteering and Service. Folks who volunteer their time to help others do so because they understand and embrace the potential of our fellow Americans. President George H.W.
