This week we continued our work in the district talking with small business owners, healthcare providers, local mayors and more. We also hosted our fifth job fair. We had more than 50 companies on hand and more than 250 job seekers!

Today, the President signed the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act, which included our bipartisan bill Lali's Law. The bill is named in memory of Alex Laliberte, a Buffalo Grove resident and Stevenson High School graduate, who passed away seven years ago from a drug overdose.

Among my work on your behalf this week, we hosted a summit on mental health care. Earlier this month, the House passed the Helping Families in Mental Health Crisis Act, which contains some of the most comprehensive mental healthcare reforms in the last decade.

Earlier this year we introduced a bipartisan bill called Lali’s Law, named in Alex Laliberte’s memory, to prevent drug overdoses and save lives. This week our hard work paid off: our bipartisan bill passed Congress and will now become law.
