I visited MakerSpace at Lake Forest High School to tour their new lab designed to inspire high school students to build prototypes and work collaboratively using cutting edge technology. We discussed what we can do to break down barriers for women looking to break into science, technology, engineering and math.

This week we held a community forum in Mundelein on efforts to combat domestic violence, sexual assault and sex trafficking. Experts in the community discussed life-saving techniques, domestic violence survivors shared their personal stories of hardship and triumph and service agencies helped schedule confidential appointments.

This week, we had the opportunity to talk with hundreds of pro-Israel advocates from the 10th District who were in Washington D.C. for the annual AIPAC Policy Conference. The 10th District of Illinois is home to one of the most passionate pro-Israel communities in the nation.

We can't ignore the problems in Flint, Michigan. The residents of Flint, and all Americans, are right to demand more transparency and better communication from officials at all levels of government. We should not accept anything less.
