Ellmers Votes to Override Obama’s Veto

The U.S. House of Representatives Held a Vote to Override a Veto on Legislation that Would Repeal Obamacare and Defund Planned Parenthood

WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Renee Ellmers (R-NC-02) issued the below release following House consideration of the veto on H.R. 3762 - Restoring Americans’ Healthcare Freedom Reconciliation Act. This legislation repealing Obamacare and defunding Planned Parenthood was passed by Congress in December and sent to the president’s desk.

"Back in December, for the first time ever, Congress sent a bill straight to the president’s desk that would have repealed Obamacare and defunded Planned Parenthood. Today, the House took the next step in the Constitutional process to demonstrate just how committed we are to carrying out the will of the American people."

“When I first came to office, I vowed to use every tool at my disposal to repeal this disastrous law. While our president continues to push his own liberal agenda, I will stand strong in upholding the priorities of the Second District and work to replace it with patient-centered healthcare. Taxpayers deserve greater choice and affordability with their healthcare plans, and they should not be required to foot the bill of a questionable organization like Planned Parenthood.”
