  • Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute's Global Leaders Internship and Fellowship Program – The Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute’s Global Leaders Internship and Fellowship Program provides an opportunity to a select number of young leaders in order to further develop their leadership skills and gain mentorship from leaders in Washington D.C.   • Environmental Justice Small Grants Program – The EJSG Program provides funding for eligible applicants for projects that address environmental and public health issues within an affected community. The program is designed to help communities understand and address exposure to multiple environmental harms and risks. Closing date is January 31, 2017.   • Nancy Foster Scholarship Program – The Dr. Nancy Foster Scholarship Program provides support for master’s and doctoral studies in oceanography, marine biology, maritime archaeology, and all other science, engineering, social science, and resource management disciplines involving ocean and coastal areas, and particularly encourages women and members of minority groups to apply.   • Competitive State Wildlife Grant – This grant helps develop and implement programs for the benefit of wildlife and their habitats, including species that are not hunted or fished. Priority for use of these funds must be placed on identified species of greatest conservation need and should take into consideration the relative level of funding available for the conservation of these species.   • Public Health Preparedness and Response Cooperative Agreement for All-Hazards Public Health – An additional $25 million in PHPR Zika funding is available to the current 53 PHPR Zika awardees. Awardees may apply for funding needed to complete Zika preparedness and response activities that are within the scope of the Zika funding opportunity announcement. Closing date is November 11, 2016.   • Grants to Expand Substance Abuse Treatment Capacity in Adult Treatment Drug Courts (SAMSHA Drug Treatment Drug Courts) – The purpose of this program is to expand and/or enhance substance use disorder treatment services in existing adult problem solving courts, and adult Tribal Healing to Wellness courts, which use the treatment drug court model in order to provide alcohol and drug treatment (including recovery support services, screening, assessment, case management, and program coordination) to defendants/offenders.   • Sustaining Cultural Heritage Collections – This program helps cultural repositories plan and implement preservation strategies that pragmatically balance effectiveness, cost, and environmental impact.   • Nurse Anesthetist Training Program – Grants are awarded to accredited institutions that educate registered nurses to become nurse anesthetists. Recipients disburse funds to students in the form of traineeship support. Closing date is December 5, 2016.   • Nursing Workforce Diversity Program – The purpose of the NWD program is to increase nursing education opportunities for individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds, including ethnic and racial minorities who are underrepresented among registered nurses.   • Farm to School Grant Program – The Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 amended Section 18 of the Richard B. Russell National School Lunch Act (NSLA) to establish a Farm to School Program in order to assist eligible entities, through grants and technical assistance, in implementing farm to school programs that improve access to local foods in eligible schools.   • Assistance to Firefighters Grant – The AFG program provides financial assistance to help fire departments, non-affiliated Emergency Medical Service organizations and state fire training academies; for critically needed resources to protect the public; to train emergency personnel, and to foster inter-operability and support community resilience, as well as enhance through direct financial assistance, the safety of the public and to provide support for emergency responders to fire, medical, and all hazard events.   • Clean Vessel Act Grant Program – The CVA program provides grant funds to the states and territories for the construction, renovation, operation, and maintenance of pump-out stations and waste reception facilities for recreational boaters and also for educational programs that inform boaters of the importance of proper disposal of their sewage.   • Coral Reef Conservation Program – The NOAA Coral Reef Conservation Program supports coral reef management and monitoring programs and conservation projects that seek to improve the condition of coral reef ecosystem resources.   • Saltonstall-Kennedy Competitive Research Program – The objective of this grant program is to address the needs of the fisheries and fishing communities in optimizing economic benefits by building and maintaining sustainable fisheries and practices, dealing with the impacts of conservation and management measures and increasing other opportunities to use existing infrastructure to support keeping working waterfront viable US fisheries include any fishery, commercial or recreational, that is, or may be, engaged in by citizens or nationals of the United States.   • Agriculture and Food Research Initiative – This AFRI Challenge Area focuses on the priority to mitigate and adapt to climate variability and change. It supports activities that reduce greenhouse gas emissions, increase carbon sequestration in agricultural and forest production systems, and prepare the nation’s agricultural and forests to adapt to variable climates.   • Congressional Award – Established in 1979, the Congressional Award is the United States Congress’ award for young Americans. The program is open to all 14- to 23-year-olds. Participants earn Bronze, Silver and Gold Congressional Award Certificates and Bronze, Silver and Gold Congressional Award Medals. Each level involves setting goals in four program areas; Volunteer Public Service, Personal Development, Physical Fitness, and Expedition/Exploration.
