Cartwright Announces $85,000 USDA Loan Awarded to Germania Hose Company

Sep 27, 2016
Press Release

Scranton, PA – Today, U.S. Representative Matt Cartwright announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has awarded a Rural Development Loan to Germania Hose Company.  The funds will be used to upgrade existing facilities.

The $85,000 community facility loan will allow for renovations that include HVAC, floors, painting, doors, exterior signage, and ADA compliance renovations to the restrooms.

“These funds will play an important role in modernizing Germania Hose Company and supporting our firefighters,” said Rep. Cartwright, a member of the Congressional Fire Services Caucus.

The USDA Community Facility Loan program provides affordable funding to develop essential community facilities in rural areas.  This program considers an essential community facility to be any facility that provides an essential service to the community for the orderly development of the community in a primarily rural area, and does not include private, commercial or business undertakings.

Rep. Matt Cartwright represents Pennsylvania’s 17th Congressional District, which includes Schuylkill County and portions of Carbon, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, and Northampton Counties.  Cartwright serves on the House Committee on Appropriations.
