Washington D.C. – House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following statement on House passage of S. 2244, the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act (TRIA):

“Today, with a wide bipartisan vote of 417-7 , the House passed the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act, instituting necessary reforms that reduce taxpayer liability and increase the threshold before the federal government steps in. Though the House tried to negotiate with Senate Democrats on this bill to fix a particularly flawed portion of the Dodd-Frank Act, Senate Democrats backed out because of pressure from their extreme left wing. Previously, this same fix passed in the House with 411 votes. I urge the Senate to move on this bill and vote for these needed reforms.”
