“I'm honored that the National Retail Federation has recognized my work in Congress and my fight to protect American workers, our job creators and my efforts to advance policies that will help them thrive. Here in the House, we will continue to fight for common-sense policies that will put America back to work, remove costly regulations that are crippling our main street businesses and balance our budget. I am very grateful for this award, and thank the NRF for the work they are doing to grow our American economy.”

This morning, Congresswoman Ellmers received the Hero of Main Street Award from the National Retail Federation. The award was given for her support of small business and the U.S. retail industry - the nation’s largest private sector employer.

The National Retail Federation is the world’s largest retail trade association, representing discount and department stores, home goods and specialty stores, Main Street merchants, grocers, wholesalers, chain restaurants and Internet retailers from the United States and more than 45 countries. Retail is the nation’s largest private sector employer, supporting one in four U.S. jobs – 42 million working Americans. Contributing $2.5 trillion to annual GDP, retail is a daily barometer for the nation’s economy. NRF’s This is Retail campaign highlights the industry’s opportunities for life-long careers, how retailers strengthen communities, and the critical role that retail plays in driving innovation.
