Hibbing Tribune: NOLAN PROTECTING HEALTHCARE FOR SENIORS
I want to write and thank Congressman Rick Nolan for his work to protect, reform and strengthen Social Security and Medicare.
I have worked in the healthcare industry for many years now, and I see firsthand the positive impact these benefits and services have as it pertains to our aging population. Nolan knows that people work for their entire life with the promise that these benefits will be there for them when they retire from their respective professions.
When the Republican-controlled House of Representatives voted in opposition of a COLA increase for our seniors, Congressman Nolan immediately introduced legislation that would provide a one time, 3.9 percent mid-year cost of living adjustment which would benefit nearly 59 million Social Security recipients, including 100,000 individuals in the Eighth Congressional District.
Nolan’s Fair COLA for Seniors Act was endorsed by the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare.
Nolan knows these aren’t entitlements, they are earned benefits and it is his obligation to protect and preserve those benefits for current and future generations.
I’m proud of the work Nolan does to help our seniors retire and live with dignity. I can attest that his work has been noticed by many, and whether we are Republicans or Democrats, we should be proud of his work on this issues.
As a nurse and Iron Range resident, I encourage you to join me in thanking Nolan for his efforts to secure the future of Social Security and Medicare.
