Nolan deserves thanks for saving jobs on RangeU.S. Rep. Rick Nolan has earned our congratulations and thanks for a job well done.

The Iron Range, facing disastrous financial and job losses, was saved, thanks to him.

“That meeting, which came at my request, is often referred to on the Range as ‘the day that changed everything,’ ” Nolan wrote in a recent “Monday Report” on his website about the visit to the Iron Range in December of White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough. “It triggered one of the largest crackdowns on steel dumping in history against China and 11 other trade cheater nations. … (Along with United Taconite), UTAC is gearing up with a $65 million investment to produce the new, 21st century mustang pellet, a high-grade product that the company predicts will guarantee mining jobs on the Range for generations to come.”

Nolan has given back to the Range a couple thousand jobs. We on the Range were lucky to have him, with all his knowledge and skills, save the Range.

I can’t imagine how it would have gone with a rookie facing that challenge. Probably the Range would have just gone under. Job well done.
