ENSIGN STATEMENT ON FINANCE COMMITTEE HEALTHCARE REFORM PROPOSAL

Washington, D.C. – Senator John Ensign, a member of the Senate Finance Committee, today released the following statement after Senator Baucus rolled out the Finance Committee’s healthcare reform bill:

“I’m glad to see we finally have a bill to review and study, but I fear it isn’t the reform we need to fix the system, and instead is another opportunity for the government to tax families and small businesses, while cutting Medicare.  I will work diligently in the Finance Committee to include my amendments that will do more to incentivize healthy behaviors, help small businesses continue to provide healthcare benefits, and reduce costs for American families while still maintaining a high quality of healthcare services, among other reforms.”
