Tour The White House


The White House is the official residence of the United States President and the First Family. It was originally built in 1792 and was later expanded to include the West Wing, the current Oval Office, and the current East Wing. Visitors to the White House participate in a self-guided tour of the East Wing and parts of the Executive Residence.

Availability

  • White House Tours are available Tuesday - Thursday, 7:30am - 11am and Friday - Saturday, 7:30am - 1:30pm.
  • White House Tours are closed on Sunday, Monday, and federal holidays.
  • Due to the high volume of requests, we do recommend that you submit your tour request at least three (3) months in advance. However, tour requests can be submitted between six (6) weeks to three (3) months prior to your requested tour date.
  • Please be aware that once a request is submitted to the White House, we cannot make any changes.
  • Due to the unpredictable nature of White House events, we recommend that travel arrangements to DC are not solely scheduled for a White House tour.

A Note from the White House:

Dear Guest,

On September 4, 2009 President Obama announced that visitor access records in the White House Complex will be made publicly available 90-120 days after the date of visit. This policy includes all guests touring the White House. Please be aware that your full name and the date of your visit will be part of the publicly released records. Your date of birth, Social Security Number, and all other information provided will NOT be released.
