BARBARA BOXER

UNITED STATES SENATOR

CALIFORNIA

Federal Justice System Nominations

The Constitution gives every Senator the right and responsibility to provide advice and consent to the President on nominations to our federal justice system. One of the most essential roles that Senators play in this process is to recommend individuals to serve as District Court Judges, U.S. Attorneys and U.S. Marshals in their states.

Senator Boxer is committed to recommending to the President potential nominees who are highly qualified and worthy of the enormous trust Californians place in them.

To assist her in this process, Senator Boxer has selected advisory committees comprised of a diverse group of respected individuals in each federal judicial district. When the President asks for recommendations for District Court Judges, U.S. Attorneys and U.S. Marshals, these committees review applications, interview applicants and make recommendations to Senator Boxer.

The list of advisory committee members can be seen here.

Senator Boxer is currently accepting applications to fill the position of Northern District U.S. Attorney. Interested applicants should submit one unbound copy of their application along with any supporting materials to Senator Boxer's Oakland Office no later than 5:30pm on Friday November 6th, 2015.

All information included in the application will remain confidential and be used solely for the review process. However, as part of the application process, applicants are asked to authorize committee members to make inquiries in order to review their background. If you would like the fact that you are applying for a position to be kept confidential, please indicate why in writing. Although not required, if you wish to submit letters of recommendation they should be included with your application.

Also, please check Senator Feinstein's website for information on the positions for which she is making recommendations.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, so applicants are encouraged to submit materials as soon as possible.
