WASHINGTON — An alarm that should have notified a Plains All American Pipeline operator of a rupture had been turned off, delaying the response to a devastating oil spill a year ago at Refugio State Beach, officials with the federal pipeline safety agency said Thursday.
THOUSAND OAKS, CA – Today, Congresswoman Julia Brownley (D - Westlake Village) and the Port of Hueneme Board of Harbor Commissioners announced the launch of Phase II of the Port’s Grid-Based Shore Power Project. WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Julia Brownley (D-Westlake Village) announced $9.85 million in funding has been included in the President’s FY2017 budget request that will be made available to dredge Channel Islands Harbor and to replenish sand at Hueneme Beach.
Funding will come from $7.98 million in President’s FY2017 budget request for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Additionally, the Navy is required to fund 19 percent of the total cost, bringing the total to $9.85 million.
WASHINGTON — The Army Corps of Engineers has agreed to spend an additional $2.5 million for dredging built-up sand at Ventura Harbor, Rep. Julia Brownley announced Tuesday.
The Westlake Village Democrat has been working with stakeholders to coordinate the response to an unusual buildup of sand that raised safety concerns and led to the closure of the harbor entrance to all but the most essential boats.
"The timing of the money is perfect," Harbor Director Oscar Pena said Tuesday. "The last 30 days, everybody's been distressed."
