CONGRESSWOMAN FUDGE CONDEMNS VIOLENCE TOWARD CIVILIANS IN EGYPT

WARRESNVILLE HEIGHTS, OH- Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11) issued the following statement today regarding violence in Egypt that has resulted in more than 1,000 casualties among Egyptians of all faiths:

"The Egyptian people themselves must ultimately determine the shape of their government in a free and democratic process.  However, it is distressing to hear reports of widespread attacks against the persons and property of members of Egypt's religious community, which includes the burning of places of worship such as churches, businesses, schools and homes. I condemn any acts of violence toward civilians wherever they occur and encourage Egyptian authorities to protect all of their citizens."
