CONGRESSWOMAN FUDGE LENDS A HAND AT FOODBANK, CALLS ON GREATER FEDERAL SUPPORT FOR NATIONS' FOODBANKS

WARRENSVILLE  HEIGHTS,OH: Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11) will volunteer at the Cleveland Foodbank next Monday, December 20th, to highlight the need for continued federal support.

"The holidays are a busy time for the Foodbank, but every day of the year is busy given the urgent need," stated Congresswoman Fudge. "In Ohio, one out of every five children is hungry or at risk of facing hunger. It's heartbreaking that our Nation's food insecurity situation is not improving. It's actually growing worse. I will do anything that I can as a Member of Congress to support places, like the Cleveland Foodbank, that combat hunger."

The Recovery Act provided $876,000 to the Foodbank to help it deal with record demand.  During that period, the Foodbank distributed nearly 33 million pounds of food to more than 600 local food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and other programs in Northeast Ohio.

Reporters and camera crews are welcome to cover the volunteer food packing activities.
