Accountability

Government Accountability is important to our district and to my work in Congress. Without input from elected legislators, bureaucratic agencies have written thousands of rules and regulations. Many of these are inconsistent with the intent of the laws which they are designed to enforce. Additionally, these rules and regulations place an unfair burden on American families, as compliance costs now stand at over $1.8 trillion. It's time to increase accountability and improve transparency in our federal government.

I introduced H.R. 4335 - One Subject at a Time Act, which would limit each bill introduced in Congress to one subject, and that the subject be clearly stated in the bill's title. H.R. 4335 is currently sitting in the House Judiciary Committee where it awaits consideration. I also cosponsored and voted in favor of H.R. 427 - Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny Act of 2015 which requires that Congress approves all new major regulations. H.R. 427 passed the House in December 2015 and awaits consideration by the Senate.

I look forward to your feedback.

Thank you.
