Press Release

Washington, D.C. (Dec. 23, 2016) — Today, Congressman Elijah E. Cummings (D-MD) issued the following statement commemorating the 2016 holiday season:

“In the coming days, millions of American families will come together to celebrate the holiday season and the end of another calendar year.  I am grateful to have spent another year serving my constituents in Maryland’s Seventh Congressional District.

“2016 was a difficult year for our nation. There have been more than 1,000 bias-related incidents in the weeks following the election, and many Americans are uncertain about the future.  In the face of these trials, I am reminded of the great progress our nation has made in my lifetime, and I promise to continue fighting to protect that progress.

“I wish every American a safe, happy and healthy holiday season.  Let us all come together to create a more fair, more just society for generations yet unborn.”
