Military Academy Nominations

Thank you for your interest in the U.S. Service Academies. As your 5th District Representative in the U.S. House of Representatives, each year I have the privilege of nominating a limited number of applicants to the U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, U.S. Military Academy at West Point, and the U.S. Naval Academy. The honor of attending a service academy comes with an obligation and commitment to serve in the military for a minimum of five years upon graduation.

To be considered for a nomination from my office, you must submit the personal data form below, and send the following materials to my Cambridge office by October 31, 2016:

  • 3 Letters of Recommendation
  • Resume or List of Activities/Achievments
  • Official High School Transcript
  • Official SAT and/or ACT Scores (SAT code: 7901, ACT code: 7457)
  • An essay of at least 250 words detailing why you want to attend an academy

Please be advised that in addition to applying for a nomination, you must also apply directly to the academy or academies you wish to attend. A nomination does not guarantee an appointment to an academy, but one is required in order to be considered for admission.

If you have any questions about the nomination process, please contact my district office at 617-354-0292.

Number your preference (1 to 4) of academies — with 1 being your highest preference

An appointment to the Service Academies is based on a desire by the candidate to devote a lifetime of military service and implies recognition by the appointee of an obligation to the government to devote him / herself to a military career. Are you interested in an appointment on that basis?
