WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Mark Walker (NC-06) recently introduced H.R. 6089, the Financial Independence for Disabled Veterans Act of 2016. This bill allows disabled veterans to contribute to their Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) account, using their disability compensation.
Last year, Congress gave our servicemen and servicewomen a new way to save for retirement by allowing them to contribute money to a TSP. The TSPs act similar to a 401k, deferring taxes and helping members of the military build a nest egg for the future.
GREENSBORO, N.C. – U.S. Representative Mark Walker (NC-06) recently introduced a resolution to establish a Select Committee on POW/MIA Affairs. He unveiled the legislation at an event this morning at Caldwell Academy in Greensboro.

WASHINGTON, DC –U.S. Representative Mark Walker (NC-06) today supported House passage of the VA Accountability Act (H.R. 1994) which helps change the negligent and deceptive culture within the VA. The bill makes it easier for the VA Secretary to fire insubordinate employees and enhances whistleblower protections.
The brave service men and women, that have selflessly given and sacrificed so much for our country, deserve our lifelong appreciation and respect.
More than that, they deserve our very best — they deserve first class health care and service — they deserve a federal government that honors its commitment to them.
When we as a nation fall short on that commitment, they deserve answers, a long term plan, immediate action and assurance that things will be made right.
WASHINGTON, DC – Today is U.S. Representative Mark Walker’s (NC-06) 100th day in Congress. WASHINGTON, DC – In his first legislative vote last night, U.S. Representative Mark Walker (NC-6) supported the bipartisan passage of H.R. 22, the Hire More Heroes Act of 2015, which incentivizes small businesses to hire veterans by excluding them from the Affordable Care Act’s employer mandate threshold.
