Fellow Marylanders:

In the past few weeks, Americans have witnessed historic courses of events in our nation.

On the one hand, I applauded the Supreme Court’s ruling to uphold the Affordable Health Care Act, which will protect the lives of millions of Americans. On the other, I was utterly dismayed by the hasty and unwarranted vote to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress on the very same day based on a report that was wrought with more than 100 flaws.

…AND ACCESS FOR ALL
I was proud to introduce two pieces of legislation that underscore my ongoing fight to ensure that you, and all Americans, can receive quality health care, regardless of income or community.
“WE MUST PROTECT THIS HOUSE”
I held my seventh free Foreclosure Prevention Workshop on June 16th. These workshops allow me to continue to ensure that you are empowered and equipped to fight foreclosure and stay in your homes. I was humbled to see my foreclosure efforts highlighted in two ways this month:

CELEBRATING INDEPENDENCE
It is fitting that the nation now - after the previous week’s up and downs - pauses to acknowledge Independence Day. This is a holiday where all citizens, regardless of race, income, or background, can unite to honor the perseverance and vision of the generations before us. It was our forefathers’ vision and courage that made possible the many liberties we appreciate today, and that enable me to serve as your Representative.

I believe in my core that the work that I do in the nation’s capitol, and that you do every day in your homes and communities, is not just for me and for you. We labor to benefit generations yet unborn. It is my hope that you will continue to support me as I fight for all residents of Maryland’s 7th Congressional District.
