‘Not only is Congress tackling the problem of rising energy prices head on by encouraging domestic energy development, we are doing so by working together’
WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell made the following statement Saturday following passage of the Continuing Resolution which provides funding for our troops as well as open access to domestic energy sources:
“For the last several months, Americans have been demanding Congress act to lower high prices at the pump and develop new domestic sources of energy – particularly by opening up the Outer Continental Shelf to drilling and allowing access to our vast western oil reserves. And today Congress responded by lifting the ban on these American energy sources, which will reduce our dependency on Middle East oil and increase America’s energy independence.
“This measure also provides the necessary funding to pay, train and equip our military as they protect our country, funds our homeland security efforts, military construction and Veterans Affairs.
“Not only is Congress tackling the problem of rising energy prices head on by encouraging domestic energy development, we are doing so by working together across party lines.”
