Alex Garza’s longtime dream was to own a construction company. But after sustaining several injuries, including a broken back and a dislocated shoulder, while serving in Iraq for the U.S. Army, Garza’s plans changed.

This annual symposium features professors, students and community members speaking about art, literature, activism, climate change and local nature attractions. The symposium will be held Tuesday, Nov. 22 on the Edinburg Campus and Tuesday, Nov. 29 on the Brownsville Campus.
