Beatty Backs House Resolution Objecting to United Nations Security Council Resolution
On January 5, 2017, the U.S. House of Representatives passed House Resolution 11, a measure rebuking the United Nations for passing a resolution that condemned Israeli settlement construction. U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) joined a majority of her fellow Congressional colleagues in supporting H.Res. 11 by a vote of 342-80. After the House vote, Beatty issued the following statement:
"“I believe it is imperative that any measure pertaining to a peaceful solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict be a product of direct, bilateral negotiations. Today, after careful review of House Resolution 11 and hearing from constituents who overwhelmingly supported today’s vote, I joined a bipartisan majority of my Congressional colleagues in support of the House Resolution expressing disapproval of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2334.”
