Washington, D.C.– U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell issued the following statement Friday after the Senate Majority Leader agreed to his request to set aside the PIPA legislation pending resolution of ‘the serious issues’ with the legislation:

“We all agree that we must do more to combat the on-line theft of intellectual property, but I was encouraged to see the Democrat majority agree with our call to set aside the PIPA bill, a proposal that raised serious legal, policy and operational concerns. The Majority Leader’s decision to set aside the bill will give Congress the opportunity to study and resolve the serious issues with this legislation and prevent a counterproductive rush toward flawed legislation. The Senate Majority made the right decision to reconsider fast-tracking this bill next week.”
