Defense and National Security
The issues of Defense and National Security are important to our district and to my work in Congress.
“We have protected the concept of liberty, fought for it, and the loyal men and women of our Armed Forces have selflessly carried the torch of freedom to those whose lives have been darkened by tyranny.” – Dave Reichert

From the beaches of Normandy to the jungles of Vietnam, America’s Armed Forces have willingly, repeatedly, and stoically stood in harm’s way to preserve the values and liberties we cherish. We must also remember that our service members do far more than holding the front lines of global conflicts. They are truly a force for good, as they perform humanitarian missions from engineering projects in developing nations to sharing new medical practices with allies in foreign lands.
As our soldiers remain unwavering in their commitment to defending our freedom, we must remain resolute in our commitment to providing for each and every one of their needs. I am keeping my promise to our nation’s veterans by helping to improve and deliver a lifetime of earned benefits and services long past the conclusion of their tours of duty.
Our national security is preserved because we have men and women willing to pay the price, bear the burden, and meet the demand of keeping our country safe. Every American owes a debt of gratitude to the brave men and women who served honorably in our armed forces.
I am committed to prevent any future terrorist attack and to also bring those who seek to do us harm to justice. I have consistently supported resources for the Department of Homeland Security, and its various programs and agencies. As a former law enforcement officer and current member of the Congressional Anti-Terrorism Caucus, protecting America and keeping our communities safe has always been a top priority for me. We must ensure our local first responders and intelligence officials have the resources they need to protect our country, preserve our freedom, and keep our families safe.
I believe it is the foremost responsibility of all of our nation’s elected officials to protect our citizens. Accordingly, we must continue to engage with other nations in the interest of security cooperation.
