Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell announced today that Governor Scott Walker (R-WI) will deliver the weekly Republican address Saturday.
“Gov. Walker’s outstanding record of fiscal responsibility clearly demonstrates his commitment to public service and the people of Wisconsin,” said Sen. McConnell. “Gov. Walker’s account of his life as an ordinary citizen who went on to achieve something quite extraordinary is an inspiration to us all.”
"I appreciate the opportunity to talk about how we are transforming Wisconsin from the job loss in the past to the job growth we see today,” said Gov. Walker. “Moving forward I will continue to be a vocal supporter of improving the economy in our states and our country."
Gov. Walker was elected as County Executive in 2002 and in his eight years of service cut the county's debt by 30 percent and recorded a budget surplus despite failing national and state economies. Gov. Walker was inaugurated as Wisconsin’s 45th governor in 2011 and on June 5, 2012, won Wisconsin’s historic recall election–– making him the first governor in United States history to survive a recall attempt.
