McConnell: Senate Protecting American Taxpayers

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell released the following statement in support of Senator Jim DeMint’s (R-SC) amendment on earmark disclosure requirements in the Ethics Reform Bill:
“Last week, a bipartisan group of Senators stood together to ensure a vote on this important amendment. And today, the Senate succeeded in defending the interests of taxpayers by passing Senator DeMint’s amendment to require full disclosure of earmarks. Though some tried to block the amendment, this vote sends a strong signal of our commitment to reform.”
Senator DeMint’s amendment expands disclosure requirements for earmarks. The amendment passed by a vote of 98 to 0.
