Thank you to the Phyllis Schlafly Eagles for recognizing my work as the lead sponsor of the pro-life "Heartbeat Protection Act" (HR 490) by presenting me with the "2018 Phyllis Schlafly Award for Excellence in Leadership". It is indeed a special honor to be selected by the Eagles for having demonstrated a "courageous commitment to defend unborn children."

Phyllis is someone I deeply admired. Because she created this award, the receipt of it imbues it with additional meaning for me. I am also honored to be included among the distinguished recipients to date: President Reagan's Attorney General Ed Meese, Morton and Helen Blackwell of the Leadership Institute, and then-Senator Jeff Sessions.

The picture below shows Ed Martin (left) and John Schlafly (right) presenting me with the award during the Gateway Eagle Council XLVII.

Pleased to work with Kristi Noem, Collin Peterson and many additional House colleagues to submit comments requesting the EPA to increase biomass-based biodiesel to 2.8 billion gallons, to end secret RFS waivers, and to eliminate regulations prohibiting year-round sale of E15.

Ethanol Producer Magazine features a story on our efforts ("House members advocate for strong RFS, year-round E15 sales") at the following link:

Reps. Kristi Noem, R-S.D., and Collin Peterson, D-Minn., leaders of the bipartisan Biofuels Caucus, led more than 20 House members in sending a letter to the U.S. EPA urging the agency to approve year-round E15.
