Press Release
(Richvale, CA) – Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R-Richvale) issued the following statement after United Airlines announced a new, nonstop flight from Redding Municipal Airport (RDD) to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) will be commencing March 8, 2019. Congressman LaMalfa serves on the Aviation Subcommittee of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, which oversees all airports in the United States.

LaMalfa said: “Daily, nonstop air service from Redding to LAX is great news for Northern California. This will cut hours off of travel time – no longer will residents have the unwanted hassle of driving to Sacramento just so they can fly to Los Angeles for a connecting flight. Expanding the services at the Redding airport will greatly improve convenience for those traveling for either business or leisure purposes, not to mention the added economic benefits of increased airport functionality. I look forward to continuing my work on the Aviation Subcommittee to advocate for rural airports as well as additional and affordable options for North State travelers.”

In August of 2017, Congressman LaMalfa announced a grant from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for the Redding airport for the purposes of rehabilitating the existing taxiway at the airport.
