Recent Activity

September 13, 2018 Press Release
"If we are to have any hope of avoiding a Continuing Resolution on these bills, House Republicans must drop their insistence on poison pill riders that threaten our air and water and weaken protections for American consumers. Until that happens, we will be forced to keep the important domestic priorities in these bills in a holding pattern. That will deprive American families, businesses, and communities of the certainty they deserve."
September 6, 2018 Press Release
Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi today named House Democratic Members to serve on a conference committee on the Interior-Environment, Financial Services, Transportation-HUD, and Agriculture Appropriations bills.

July 27, 2018 Press Release
Through 12 Committee markups this year, House Appropriations Committee Democrats have offered nearly 150 amendments to stand up for our values and push back on President Trump and the Republicans’ backwards agenda. While Republicans have defeated many of these important amendments, House Democrats have succeeded in forcing important debates and putting Republicans on the record, laying down a marker for the battles that lie ahead.
May 16, 2018 Press Release
I would be remiss if I didn’t say that it will be unconscionable for any of us to help pass spending bills that shift burdens onto working families and the most vulnerable among us. Agreeing to subcommittee allocations bill by bill puts us at a great danger of doing just that.
May 16, 2018 Press Release
The bill also fails to meet the growing needs of the FDA, which regulates more than $2.4 trillion worth of products consumed by Americans, including foods, drugs, medical devices, and tobacco.
May 9, 2018 Press Release
We were presented with a budget from the administration that would have cut nearly a billion dollars in discretionary funding. Cuts to programs such as McGovern-Dole, Food for Peace, Rural Water and Wastewater Grants, and Loans for Single Family Housing are just not acceptable. I am pleased to see these vital programs were funded, and I am largely satisfied with how the funding levels turned out.
May 9, 2018 Press Release
The Fiscal Year 2019 Agriculture bill would maintain a number of important investments that help young people access healthy meals, including WIC, summer EBT, school meals and kitchen equipment grants. However, it falls short in several areas. While the bill maintains funding for McGovern-Dole, it would cut $216 million from Food for Peace, leading to increased hunger and insecurity around the world.
July 11, 2017 Press Release
The Agriculture bill’s insufficient allocation results in consequential reductions for food aid, and underfunding CFTC’s enforcement of consumer financial protections.
