This week is Prescription Opioid and Heroin Epidemic Awareness Week. Today, Rep. Mike Bost, Congressman John Shimkus and I met with U.S. Surgeon General Jerome Adams, Deputy Secretary of HHS Eric Hargan, HHS Assistant Secretary for Mental Health and Substance Use Dr. Elinore McCance-Katz, community leaders and local stakeholders to discuss regional efforts to fight the opioid crisis. Congress has passed bipartisan legislation that combats the epidemic from all angles and we have provided more funding for states to help local efforts.

I joined Decatur city officials to see the progress on the Lake Decatur dredging project. This project will expand the lake's capacity by 30%. I am proud to serve on the Water Resources and Environment Subcommittee to help ensure the 13th district has strong water infrastructure.

Started my morning on WICS ABC Newschannel 20 with Rachel Pierson where we talked about the farm bill, making the individual tax cuts permanent, and the Congressional App Challenge for high school students.
