World Humanitarian Day (WHD) is held every year on 19 August to pay tribute to aid workers who risk their lives in humanitarian service, and to rally support for people affected by crises around the world.
On 21 December 2010, the UN General Assembly passed resolution 65/209 welcoming the adoption of the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance and declaring 30 August the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances.
