About John
U.S. Representative John R. Carter was re-elected in a landslide in November 2016 to his eighth term representing Texas' 31st Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. Congressman Carter serves as the Chairman of the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Appropriations and was selected to serve on the Commerce, Justice, Science Subcommittee and Defense Subcommittee. This is also Congressman Carter's fourth term to serve as Co-Chairman of the bipartisan House Army Caucus. He has been a member of the House Appropriations Committee since 2004. Carter Awarded with Statewide Career and Technical Education Award
09/20/18This week, Congressman John Carter (TX-31) was awarded the Career and Technical Association of Texas' Champion of the Year Award for his commitment to CTE programs in Texas' 31st Congressional District. He was nominated by Round Rock ISD. Staff from Round Rock ISD presented Congressman Carter with the award during a visit to Stony Point High School.

09/05/18Last night, the House passed Congressman John Carter's (TX-31) Department of Homeland Security Chief Data Officer Authorization Act. This legislation will create a Chief Data Officer in each of DHS' twenty-two components to collect all statistics, analytics and policies to ensure a more timely response to requests from Congress and the public.
