As if the burdensome new small business regulations in the Democrats' health care bill weren't enough, Democrats are now preparing to allow tax hikes on small businesses to kick in during the new year. Republicans are committed to opposing Democrats' tax hikes and creating an environment in which small businesses can thrive and create jobs.
As if more spending, more debt, and more Washington takeovers weren't enough, Democrats are now planning to add tax hikes to their job-killing agenda. Republicans are committed to opposing Democrats' attempts to burden families and businesses with heavy taxes.
Democrats are continuing to indulge in political theater instead of working with Republicans to develop bipartisan legislation on important issues like preventing tax hikes on small businesses, lowering our deficit, and securing a clean energy future for our nation. Republicans will continue to put forward ideas and solutions to the challenges facing our country.
Republicans Want Serious Energy Debate

Republican senators are disappointed that the Democratic leadership decided to bring up energy legislation that was hastily thrown together behind closed doors and would jeopardize the livelihoods of hundreds of thousands of Americans by forcing energy jobs overseas. Republicans believe that an issue this important deserves a serious debate -- not a last-minute bill drafted to score political points.
Democratic leaders seem determined to further damage our already struggling economy by hiking taxes on small businesses and burdening families and businesses with new energy taxes. Republicans are committed to protecting small businesses from crippling tax hikes so that these businesses are free to grow and create jobs.
The Democratic Party is divided, with some Democrats beginning to question the wisdom of the job-killing energy policies and tax hikes proposed by the president and Democratic leadership. Senate Republicans are committed to protecting our economy from the dangers of "cap-and-tax" policies and opposing Democrats' attempts to raise taxes on American families and small businesses.
Instead of burdening businesses with higher taxes and more regulations like the Obama administration is doing, Republicans believe we should create jobs by creating an environment in which businesses -- particularly the small businesses who are responsible for so much of the job creation in this country -- can flourish.
The American people are tired of watching Democrats and the president drive our nation deeper and deeper into debt. Republicans are working to restrain spending and prevent our ballooning deficit from burdening our children and grandchildren.
The administration and congressional Democrats continue to demonstrate just how out of touch they are with Americans' concerns about high unemployment, out-of-control government spending, and our ballooning national debt. Republicans are urging Democrats to abandon their job-killing agenda and focus on economic policies that protect small businesses and don't drive our nation ever deeper into debt.
