The Republican-led Senate passed a bipartisan solution to tackle the heroin and prescription painkiller epidemic that is tearing families and communities apart. From 2002 to 2013, heroin use in the U.S. nearly doubled. Forty-four Americans die every day after overdosing on prescription painkillers. The bipartisan Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act (CARA) is a common-sense bill that will help communities combat the growing opioid epidemic facing our nation.
In one week the Republican-led Senate passed two major bipartisan bills: the FAA reauthorization and the Energy Policy Modernization Act. The Energy Policy Modernization Act will increase domestic energy production so Americans pay less. The FAA reauthorization bill will strengthen airport security and increase consumer protections. Both bills demonstrate that good policy results from good process.

For the first time in almost a decade, the Senate has passed major energy policy legislation. The bipartisan Energy Policy Modernization Act will help the United States produce more energy so Americans pay less for the energy they need - and it will do it without raising taxes or adding to the federal deficit.
Senate Republicans stand united, fighting for the American people. The FAA reauthorization bill, which has been called "one of the most passenger-friendly in a generation" (Washington Post, 3/16/16), contains the most comprehensive airport security reforms in a decade. Senate Republicans are continuing to fight to give the American people a voice on the next Supreme Court nominee.

Senate Republicans continue to stand with the American people. We are moving forward with the bipartisan Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act (CARA), and we are continuing to work to ensure Americans have a voice in the confirmation of the next nominee to the Supreme Court.
Senate Republicans agree with Senate Democrats and Vice President Joe Biden that a new Supreme Court justice should be nominated by the next president.
