Thune: House Bill Critical Step for Delivering Relief from Obamacare

WASHINGTON – Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.), chairman of the Senate Republican Conference, issued the following statement after the House passed legislation to repeal Obamacare and begin implementing a health care system that puts patients first.

“As Obamacare continues to collapse, it’s clear the status quo is unsustainable. Choices for coverage are eroding as costs continue to rise. Congress must repeal Obamacare and replace it with patient-centered, affordable health care. Today the House of Representatives has taken a critical step in delivering relief for the American people.

“In the Senate, we will continue our work to build on the House’s progress in repealing and replacing the broken system Obamacare created. Americans deserve better. I look forward to working with my colleagues in the Senate to ultimately relieve Americans from a health care system on the brink of collapse.”

Background: Senate consideration will be scheduled following the completion of procedural and budgetary scorekeeping reviews.
