PAGE, William Tyler, a Clerk from Maryland; born in Frederick, Frederick County, Md., October 19, 1868; attended the Frederick Academy and the public schools of Baltimore; Page, Office of the Doorkeeper, United States House of Representatives, circa 1881; staff, United States House of Representatives, circa 1881–1919; unsuccessful candidate for nomination to the United States House of Representatives in 1902; author; executive secretary and disbursing officer, United States Commission for the Celebration of the Two Hundredth Anniversary of the Birth of George Washington; elected Clerk of the United States House of Representatives for the Sixty-sixth and for the five succeeding Congresses (May 19, 1919–December 7, 1931); died on October 20, 1942, in Friendship Heights, Md.; interment at Oak Hill Cemetery, Washington, D.C.
