I’d like to specifically thank @SenThomTillis, who co-chairs the Senate Human Rights Caucus with me, for his tireless advocacy on Pastor Brunson’s behalf.

Today, Pastor Andrew Brunson was released by a Turkish court and is on his way back to the US. While it is appalling that Pastor Brunson was detained for two years in Turkey on unfounded charges, today I join with his family & people around the country to celebrate his freedom.

From Nepal to South Sudan, I have seen firsthand how girls are catalysts for a more peaceful, just, and prosperous world. Let’s work together to ensure girls have the right to pursue their dreams and reach their full potential. Today we celebrate girls everywhere #DayOfTheGirl

The music performed by pre-1972 artists is an important part of our shared cultural heritage. It’s the music many of us listened to growing up. It’s simply not fair that those legacy artists do not have to be compensated when Americans now listen to their music digitally.

As a member of the Foreign Relations Committee, I’m urging the President once again to nominate ambassadors for key positions around the world so they can be confirmed and get to work.

When a crisis like the disappearance of Jamal Khashoggi occurs, we need American diplomats in key posts around the world to ensure the United States can respond quickly & effectively. Right now, though, the Trump Admin hasn’t even nominated ambassadors for Turkey or Saudi Arabia.

I’m not going to give up, though. I will keep fighting to ensure that Delawareans have access not only to affordable health care, but to affordable, QUALITY health care.

We voted in the Senate today to ensure that Americans and Delawareans aren’t misled into buying “junk” insurance plans that don’t provide the care they need – but the Republican majority defeated the effort by ONE vote.

These junk insurance plans: 1) Don’t have to cover pre-existing conditions 2) Can exclude maternity care, substance abuse treatment, prescription drug costs, and ER visits 3) Can charge older Americans more Does that sound like an improvement to our health care system?

Let’s be clear: the Trump Admin’s latest effort to encourage Americans into “junk” insurance plans is a bad deal for consumers, and it hurts our overall health care system.

Rather than focusing on how to give more Americans access to quality, affordable health insurance, the Trump Admin is focused solely on destroying the Affordable Care Act, and in the process, they’re stripping protections away from those who need health care the most.
