  9. Great to be in Dover today to announce $228,693 in federal grants for the Dover Fire Department. I commend all the firefighters & EMS personnel for their commitment to serving & protecting the residents of Dover. And thank you Mayor Dodd & Fire Chief Sperry for your hospitality.

  10. Jonathan Eicholz, 9, of Garwood recently sent me a letter requesting an interview to discuss current events. Jonathan stopped by my Westfield District Office this week and was joined by his mother Mrs. Kathleen Eicholz and his sister, Rachael. A wonderful family!

  11. Today I visited the Roxbury Fire Co. to announce a $74,000 grant. Great to see Chief Hoffman and father-daughter volunteers Charlie Alpaugh (60 years volunteering!) & Dawn Ward. We rely heavily on volunteers & there’s no greater example of that than those who serve Roxbury.

  12. One day after a major accident destroyed a building in downtown Frenchtown, I visited the site to thank & commend the first responders. I also received an update from Frenchtown Mayor Brad Myhre, Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony Kearns & Frenchtown Police Chief Allan Kurylka.

  13. Congressman Leonard Lance recently announced that the Three Bridges Fire Company is receiving part of over $400,000 in federal grants issued to central New Jersey municipalities through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

    On this day in 1782, General Washington creates the “Badge for Military Merit,” a purple, heart-shaped piece of silk, edged with a narrow binding of silver, with the word Merit stitched across the face in silver. Today we remember those killed or wounded & thank those who served.
