    Wow—these young New Mexicans had the incredible chance to talk directly to an astronaut working on ! Proud of the teachers who worked hard to make this happen. It's so important to keep finding new ways to get young people engaged with STEM.

    I proudly supported a $1 million grant for ’s new 22,000 square foot Social Enterprise Center. -- a women-driven, sustainable business -- is the perfect anchor tenant, helping alleviate poverty and expand access to education.

    Today I toured 3 local organizations that are working hard to build strong communities and grow good jobs in ABQ’s South Valley. These orgs receive federal funds, which I support in Congress, to help them accomplish their missions. Follow along for highlights from my day.

    Also visited Youth Shelters and Family Services of Santa Fe to see their outstanding work helping homeless & at-risk youth. I’m committed to supporting programs like this one so ’s young people have safe havens that give them the services and tools they need to succeed.

    Now, is stuck scrambling so tribal members aren't turned away from the polls on Election Day—an example of how harsh ID laws can stand between eligible Native American voters & the ballot box. And another reason to pass my Native American Voting Rights Act.

    With North Dakota's voter ID law in place for the election, Standing Rock Sioux leaders say they're in crisis mode trying to get tribal members what they need for November 6.
