The vast majority of #wildfires in California don't even burn in forests, or in "old trees." The vast majority of #wildfire in California burns in grass, brush, chaparral or basically urban environments like subdivisions and neighborhoods.

Or, as in the case of the
#CarrFire (from which I evacuated my own home for 3 wks) CA wildfires burn hotter and faster on private timber land that has been logged and where monocultures have been allowed to thrive. And there is no commercial market for manzanita or knobcone pine.

A staggering level of ignorance about
#wildfires from@realDonaldTrump, which of course is promoted by@RepRobBishop's@NatResources Committee. Why do state's with@GOP governors and/or GOP-controlled legislatures also have wildfires? -
Meanwhile,
#publiclands management agencies all over California are participating in prescribed burning to reduce fuels, as has been their practice for years. Even CA's largest pro-logging timber lobbying group disagrees with Trump.https://twitter.com/dakasler/status/1047848013203271680 …

Sorry POTUS, The USFS needs to get to work! Managers take years to complete NEPA due to the ESA. It’s all going to burn anyway without massive fuels reduction. Logging, thinning and prescribed fire need to happen immediately without lawsuits.

Speaking of "old trees." Trump and
@SecretarySonny want to gut the Roadless Rule on the@TongassNF so the American people can spend tens of millions of dollars subsidizing more old-growth logging and roadbuilding for Trump's Timber Industry pals and donors.#publiclands#mtpolpic.twitter.com/MgkcHlTOA6Thanks.
