The Great Roberto died before I was even born and yet he’s my favorite baseball player ever.

I loved him as a child & was devastated when his plane crashed. Roberto lived to give. So talented & successful but he never saw himself above others. The word "hero" gets thrown around a lot. Roberto embodied heroism in his every day life. Glad Google remembered him today.

My father who died three years ago talked about Roberto Clemente often when I was a kid always saying he the best ball player he had ever seen.

He was unbelievable. Being part of a big family, we didn't have much $ to go to games, even back then. I finally got to see him play at 3 Rivers Stadium toward the end of '72 season. We sat in nose-bleed seats & he hit a homer. A few months later, he died in the plane crash.

The Pirates would eat at a restaurant that my mother and her parents went too, she said that she saw Roberto rather frequently. So glad to have my parents memories of him.

Hey Jade I live in Pittsburgh too. And, actually have scorecards from Three Rivers where I watched him play. Many of his BB cards too. What wonderful memories your family have shared with you

Very cool, I have all kinds of Roberto Clemente baseball cards and memorabilia. He was one of on the field and in life. He was outspoken about racism and a true humanitarian.

Pgh. Native and giving away my age here. I saw him play in Forbes Field! He was my favorite Pirate. I remember the NY eve when he died - so sad! Great player and greater humanitarian.
