    Using available observations and a post-landfall hindcast simulation of SLOSH, the NHC's Storm Surge Unit estimates peak storm surge inundation values of 9-14 ft from Mexico Beach eastward through Apalachee Bay. Highest surge is estimated near Mexico Beach and Port St. Joe.

    A destructive and life-threatening storm surge event will occur along portions of the Florida Panhandle, Big Bend, and Nature Coast on Wednesday and Wed night. The worst storm surge is expected to be between Mexico Beach and Keaton Beach where 9-13' of inundation is possible.

    As of 4pm CDT Mon Oct 8, a storm surge warning is now in effect for the Gulf Coast of Florida from the Okaloosa/Walton County Line to Anclote River. A storm surge warning means there is a danger of life-threatening inundation during the next 36 hours in the indicated locations.
