    Using available observations and a post-landfall hindcast simulation of SLOSH, the NHC's Storm Surge Unit estimates peak storm surge inundation values of 9-14 ft from Mexico Beach eastward through Apalachee Bay. Highest surge is estimated near Mexico Beach and Port St. Joe.

    As of 4pm CDT Mon Oct 8, a storm surge warning is now in effect for the Gulf Coast of Florida from the Okaloosa/Walton County Line to Anclote River. A storm surge warning means there is a danger of life-threatening inundation during the next 36 hours in the indicated locations.
