    With winter weather on the way to the higher elevations later today and through the night here are some good tips if you have to be traveling. Delaying your travel (if possible) is always the best option.

    A Winter Weather Advisory from 5 PM Saturday to 5 PM Sunday. Plan on slippery road conditions. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches, with localized amounts up to 11 inches. Snow levels will start around 6500 feet and lower to around 5000 feet.

    Traveling on the I-17 this weekend? If so, be advised that a round of snow is forecast from late Saturday through Sunday afternoon. Accumulating snow is possible above 5000 feet. Expect traffic delays and remember to bring cell phone chargers, water, and snacks.

    We encourage you to delay travel until the storm passes. If you decide to travel during a snowstorm, be prepared for delays and the possibility that you will spend extended time in winter conditions due to slowing and closures caused by the weather.

    At 450 AM MST...

    Expect widespread winter travel conditions in northern AZ this morning. The highway sections in orange show slow travel because of snow and ice, including I-17 from the Sedona turnoff to Flagstaff, and I-40 from Ash Fork to about 30 miles east of Flagstaff.
