This proposal has strong bipartisan support, and for good reason – it’s a commonsense answer that will increase transparency in prescription drug pricing and lower costs for consumers, addressing a serious challenge facing millions of Americans. #mepolitics

These funds will help treatment providers address the challenges related to this epidemic. They won’t solve every problem, but they are a step in the right direction, and I won’t stop fighting until Maine communities have the tools they need to end this scourge once and for all.

These are more than just investments in Maine’s mills – they are investments in Maine’s people. There’s no group I have more faith in, and I’ll keep working with industry and local leaders to make sure our forest economy and our rural communities thrive for generations to come.

This would be a step in the wrong direction: it would hurt communities across Maine and seriously harm local efforts to help people enter recovery. We need to support people with substance use disorders, not abandon them.

Over the past several weeks, so many Maine people – particularly women – have shared with me their stories about how they have been affected by this nomination fight. All I can say to them today is that we cannot give up hope. The work is not over; it is just beginning.

There’s still a lot of work to be done, but today, we made some very positive steps, on a bipartisan basis, to help build a better world to leave for future generations. This is how it’s supposed to work.

Both of these bipartisan efforts will make sure we leave our public lands in pristine condition for our children, just as our parents did for us. These efforts may not break through some of the political noise, but that doesn’t make the work any less important.
