Can we pardon those with marijuana convictions as well? Or do those stay so people can't get apartments, jobs, etc. because they "were criminals" so get punished for life?

This move took months/years in prep to sift through such decisions. in Canada, there is now a process to reduce/exonerate convictions for all affected parties in last 30 years carrying less than X grams. When done in completion, legalization reaps all promised beenfits
-
And it's been legal in Colorado for 6 years. However, each person still has to petition the court regarding their conviction instead of blanket pardon/void/reduction/etc.
-
Fair - Canada only got rid of the fee ($700) and waiting period (3-10 years) for applying for pardons, to democratize the expungement process.

Yup - we all woke up in Canada today, and are just fine. I don't choose to use this recreationally, but I have no issue with others doing so responsibly - plus if the tax benefits help all Canadians, then bonus, eh?
#LegalizationInCanada -
Because it is more about the money to be made from it than the people using it. Let's be honest.
-
Why can't it be both?
-
Sure, it can be, but it is all about the money. Drug dealers don't give drugs away for free. It's all about the money. Don't get me wrong though. I am happy to get the fuck out of my shed! I live in an awesome country!!

Better than alcohol in practically every way. And like alcohol, it's so much better to have laws against using it irresponsibly rather than punishing everyone.

As soon as Trump legalized it, you’d come out against it.

Republicans won't give up this very effective form of oppression.

I don’t think that’s true. Plenty of articles out there suggest otherwise.https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2018/oct/11/donald-trump-will-push-federal-marijuana-reform-re/ …

Not only legalizing it, but also retrospectively pardoning ALL marijuana-related offenses would be a good start.

But with corporations running our prisons keeping them full with these people and kick backs to government officials, there is a slowness to release these people whose lives were ruined by having pot! Steve
