“We should be the beacon of freedoms...we are different than dictatorships and totalitarian governments because we have a free press and every president-republican or democrat-should be defending and supporting our free press, even when it criticizes him.” -

  3. Few challenges facing our democracy today are as pressing as the need for media literacy skills, for Americans young and old -- but especially as young people first begin encountering the world of news, fake news, propaganda, and information.

. on giving Saudis more time: 2 1/2 weeks to conduct an investigation that happened on their property in a small building? They could have done that investigation in 2 1/2 minutes. The longer it is delayed the more they are trying to find an excuse.

I found this brief but powerful statement from (D) important to read and remember: "a free press is an essential check against tyranny, dishonesty, and impunity", "it is the responsibility of all of us to defend freedom of the press".

The President has it precisely backward. The free press is not the enemy of the people. Despotism is the enemy of the people. The free press is the despot's enemy.

They promised the tax cuts for corporations would pay for themselves. Then they blew a $2 trillion hole in the deficit. And now they’re coming for Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. But don’t take my word for it. Listen to the Republicans themselves:

...so the Republican bill did NOT have pre-existing condition protections? And the Trump Adm. is backing the Republican-led lawsuit to end protections on pre-existing conditions? That doesn't seem at all to be what the President is now saying...

The Justice Dept is backing a lawsuit that'd overturn ACA pre-ex rules. The president held a Rose Garden celebration for a House-passed bill with state waivers that'd allow insurers to charge pre-ex consumers higher prices. He has lamented that the effort stalled in the Senate.
